You can locate advertisements for auto shippers in various different places including your local paper, phone book or by searching the web. You can ask a friend or colleague if they have any suggestions or a particular company in mind.
Your moving company can come in handy if you are searching for an auto transporter. Moving companies are known for offering recommendations seeing as that they generally have partnerships with various transporting businesses.
Inquire with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) about any complaints made against the auto transporter you have selected. Also check out consumer reviews online on a particular company.
Auto transport companies usually have various terminals throughout different states. This way customer’s can pick up and drop off their vehicles without traveling long distances.
Ensure that the necessary route for pickup or delivery can be accessed by the truck. Shipping carriers usually have difficulty maneuvering down narrow roads or dead end streets. Always consider large parking lot or a terminal as alternative location for pick up or delivery.
Do not rush to decide on a car transporter. Shop around and compare prices. Don’t always assume cheaper prices are better. If the offer seems too good to be true, it most likely is.
You should always review the Bill of Lading with your driver to ensure that you understand the term and conditions.
According to the law, leaving items in your vehicle while it is being transported is not permitted. Only items necessary for your vehicle to function, such as spare tires or tools are allowed. If you happen to leave goods in the trunk and they become damaged, your insurance will most likely not offer coverage.

There is an online auto transporter terminal (towing company) directory at TerminalHub.com. I'm not sure what you'll need to do to get listed within they're network, but it looks like a great way to break into the industry.
Go to http://www.TransferMyCar.com. You can get 24/7 online car shipping quotes. They are the most reliable auto transporters in the industry. All of the TransferMyCar.com auto transporters are fully licensed, bonded and insured. They offer military discounts too.
There are a lot of shady and unscrupulous auto transporters out there. TransferMyCar.com takes the guesswork out of finding a reputable car shipping company. TransferMyCar.com is the best….hands down!
Mine, I own Go Auto Transport LLC of Chattanooga, TN. You can contact me at kozich2003@yahoo.com.
New York state is one of the most popular state for auto transporting.
Some of the Top 10 Most Popular State-To-State Auto Transport Routes are as follows:
1. CA to FL
2. FL to CA
3. CA to TX
4. NY to FL
5. NY to CA
….
7. CA to NY
9. FL to NY
So four of the most popular ten include NY.
If you are looking to work only NY to NY then the numbers drop off significantly. NY to NY falls at about 120 on the list.
I hope this is helpful. Good luck in your venture.
Uship.com gets the deposit fee. I must say that the system they use to make money is very clever. It is free to post listings on the auto transport board. However when you register with uship.com you must put a credit card on file. This credit card will be charged once you accept a bid from a transporter/service provider. So to break it down, Uship.com is an auto transport broker without doing any auto transport broker work. The service provider bids on your vehicle transport job. When the bid is placed a tier fee is deducted out of the total transport cost. So lets say you receive a bid for $650 to transport your car from NY to Miami. Out of that $650 uship.com will take $130 and leave the truck driver with $520. This may be a little off because there deposit fee system is very complex. Most auto transport brokers charge $150-200 which is almost reasonable if you are not in the auto transport industry. I can at least say a good broker would be a better choice because they probably worked with the truck driver that would transport your car if you choose them. To pay $130 for a service that you have no clue about is not worth it. Nothing too bad can happen if you go through a uship.com provider. The worst thing could be giving a deposit to the truck driver and never hearing from them again. I have seen many complaints like this as of recent. If damage is to occur on your vehicle through a uship provider uship.com will not help. At least a good broker will hopefully try to solve the problem. I just feel the amount uship.com receives is not worth the support that you will not get from them. My site charges $15 to post your vehicle load straight to the transport truck versus $130+ for the same service or less. You can checkout any registered transporter's qualifications at http://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/CompanySnapshot.aspx . If you do not feel capable dealing with the transporter/truck driver directly then just go through an auto transport broker or email us at yourtransportboard@gmail.com. We do not mean to bash uship.com so hard but this is the truth and that is how a lot of people along with myself feel. Uship.com hurts the blue collar transport industry and takes business away from hard working people that actually provide a good service. Thanks,
A broker needs a DOT license the same as any trucking company. Do a google search and get the info on-line. It's a tuff racket that is loaded with pitfalls like non-paying deadbeats, etc.
I was in the biz in the late 80's/early 90's and quit cuz i was sick of millionaires owing me $$$.
If it's a luxury or exotic vehicle – you should definitely try High End Tranport – they use enclosed carriers and do door to door. They are priced well and take great care of the car. Give them a try.
Probably about $1,000. You can go to the auto transporters web sites and they will give you a quote.
I had a good experience with Ship Any Car. $450 total Car Shipping from NY to FL. Great Service.
