Auto transport carriers provide door to door transport service or terminal to terminal transport service. For some of the people these modes will surely require explanation. Usually the vehicle is placed on the terminal for 12-24 hours. You will also have an option to receive your vehicle on the terminal or at the place you would prescribe to the transport company.

The payment

It is a mandatory clause that you need to pay a deposit as you order for the service. The deposit would range from 10% – 20% of the total fee. The mode of payment could be anything cash, cheque or it could even be the credit card mode.

You do have a problem that will take you, and your
husband to resolve. There is no question on the issue
of you needing a vehicle. A family today cannot get by
on just one vehicle unless it is available to either who
needs it, when it is needed.

You are also right about the dependability of an older
car if it is needed for really necessary trips, or in an
emergency situation. Many cars are quite dependable
for this, but you would have to be able to do all the
needed maintenance yourself as any vehicle can
break down on you at any moment; even new ones.
Your driving habits would have to be almost identical
to a previous, one owner car or the car would not
last long. The driving habits of a person that breaks
in a new car are kind of set into the peculiarities of
that car, and to suddenly change them just doesn't
work. An example here is if a one owner car was
driven by a little old lady who only used it twice a
week, once for church, and once to the store, and
always drove like she was driving an old horse and
buggy, your driving habits would have to be the
same as that little old lady. The car would not
last, and would begin to suffer many problems if
driven differently. Another example would be if the
car was one you bought at a state auction that had
been a highway police car. Those cars get a lot of
idle time, and when run are run at highway speeds,
or pursuits all the time. To drive that one like the
little old lady would be asking for many problems.
The knowledge about a car, and the knowledge of
some good basic maintenance, and repair that you
can apply yourself is the only way you can have
a chance at getting one that will serve you well.
If you don't have the basic knowledge, and ability
with vehicles, you would be best to buy a new car.

Now, you mention that your current primary vehicle
is a truck. You also mention that your husband needs
a vehicle for his job. Does he haul a lot of things in
his job? Does he haul a lot outside his job? If he
isn't using his truck to haul loads all the time, why
does he have a truck??? A family vehicle should be
one that will comfortably transport the entire family,
plus everything they might need to take with them.
A truck, if it is not specifically needed for a particular
job should never be a family primary vehicle. A truck
is, at best, a second vehicle in a family, and that is
only if one is really needed a lot. Get rid of the mentality
of some type of personal image in the so-called SUV,
or truck mentality. But, since he already has a truck
as his vehicle, the car should be purchased at tax
time, but not to replace his truck! He should just
learn to do whatever is needed to keep it going for
him, and get a newer style of family car that you
    would have for family needs.

When I drove on my job I had to have my vehicle. It
was critical since I had to drive everyday, all day. I
had to have a good vehicle, but I also had to have a
spare. I still have that spare, but no longer work as
I retired a few years back. I also have two trucks.
I will get rid of the spare car this year, and one
other so I can get another newer, but used car to
replace one. That will leave me with two cars, and
my two trucks. (One dump truck, and one utility)
They are even driven very little these days, but I
still do need each several times each year. I need
them enough that it is worth keeping them or I
would pay more to have someone do the work I
occasionally do than what it costs me to keep, and
maintain them. That leaves me with one vehicle
for my wife, and one for me. Both are older, but
work pretty well as I do keep them maintained well.
I will keep my 84 van, and get rid of both of the 93
cars so I can get another in about 2005 or 6 vintage.

My suggestion is that you keep him in his truck, and
get a family car of a vintage of less than seven years
old. A five year old vehicle, or less, would be best,
but you would have to shop around a good while to
get a really good price without paying the overpriced
level at most dealers today. A vehicle of the vintage
of my two cars should never cost you more than
about $300, and that would be a reasonable looking,
and good running vehicle. A real good looking, and
running 93 would run about $500. Just try to find a
good one of that vintage, and price from a dealer.
That would be a very rare find. Most times it has
been a problem vehicle to go that cheap at a dealer.

If your husband was thinking of buying a new
replacement for his truck at tax time ….. think
again! Get a new car instead for less than a truck,
and keep the truck he has now. If he absolutely
needs to get rid of the truck, have him buy a used
    car for work.

In summation here, a family should never have just
one vehicle that is gone all the time when the rest
of the family is left at hom

The bottom line is the dollar sign. On weekdays the transit company has guaranteed ridership. Weekends and Holidays are slower. Drivers get double time pay and sometimes triple time on Holidays. It's all about cost. Gas and Diesel fuel costs are up, etc.

Out here in California, we do have weekend and holiday mass transit but its because we have so many more people working split shifts, swing and graveyard shifts in LA. Jobs go around the clock out here. If you work sale/retail you are going to be working weekends period. Some full time employers will even pay a certain percentage of the transit pass.

You should be able to get more than 300 signatures in that area because mass transit is cheaper than owning a car. It takes a lot of work to get new lines and additional buses on existing lines. You just have to prove to the transit agency that it will be worth while ($$ in their pocket) to make the needed changes. Check in with AARP to see if they can give you a helping hand. Check with the city to see if there are any federal funding projects for transportation. Good luck hope some of these ideas help.

Most states that is illegal. Check with your State Attorney General and ask. They'll help you out.

Also, if the note is still with the dealer you bought the car from…MAKE PAYMENTS!…anything…$5 a month even. That is still a good faith effort to pay them back, and they cannot take your car. They'll charge you interest or even penalties, but they cannot take the vehicle unless you completely stop trying to pay them back. Always pay something on every bill.
